Outdoor Woman Magazine would like to extend a warm "congratulations!" to our team member, Paula Del Giudice. She is certainly an inspiration to us all—and a really nice lady! |
Paula Del Giudice Honored with Outdoor Writers Association of America's Jade of Chiefs Award.
Missoula, Montana - At its summer annual conference in Roanoke, Va., the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) announced the recipient of its coveted Jade of Chiefs Award, OWAA's top conservation honor. The 2007 Jade of Chiefs recipient is Paula Del Giudice.
Del Giudice joined OWAA in 1980 and over the years of her membership has held many influential roles in the conservation arena. Del Giudice was the first woman board chair of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) and has been active as an outdoor writer, editor and photographer.
"There is no finer example of an outdoor writer leading by example and living her commitment," said last year's award recipient Bob Lindholm, during his presentation of the award. "If we are to win the battle for our children's natural legacy, it will be grounded with people like Paula leading the way and setting the example to be emulated by all people working in conservation."
The Jade of Chiefs Award was established in 1958 as OWAA's top conservation award. Though only OWAA members are eligible, the award is presented not by OWAA but by members of the current Circle of Chiefs. The Award represents an affirmation of OWAA's adherence to and support of the principles of conservation. In 1963, the Circle of Chiefs was designated OWAA's Conservation Council. As such, it is OWAA's conservation policy spokesperson.
